2. Scope

This policy covers:

• This marketing website
• The LessonStudio web application
• Communications we send you (e.g. login codes, support replies)

It does not cover third-party websites linked from our service. For terms of use, see our Terms of Service (https://lessonstudio.org/terms).

3. Data we collect

Account and profile

• Name, email address, timezone, language preference
• Role (teacher, student, or admin where applicable)

Teaching and roster data (entered by teachers)

• Student names and contact details on a teacher’s roster
• Lesson schedules, topics, statuses, homework status
• Comments and file attachments on lessons
• Wallet transactions, currencies, and lesson prices per student relationship

Technical and usage data

• IP address, browser type, device information
• Log data (access times, errors, security events)
• Usage information collected through analytics tools such as Google Analytics on the marketing website and application
• Cookies and similar technologies (see section 9)

Marketing measurement (marketing website)

• Pages viewed, links clicked, and general interaction with our marketing site
• Referral source and campaign attribution
• Information collected through Meta Pixel when we advertise on Facebook or Instagram, and through measurement tools on other advertising platforms we use

Contact form

• Name, email, subject, and message content when you contact us

Sign-in uses email codes; we do not collect or store passwords.

4. How we use data

We use personal data to:

• Provide and operate the service
• Authenticate you and send login codes
• Display schedules, homework, and billing to teachers and invited students
• Respond to support and privacy requests
• Understand how the website and application are used and improve them (including through analytics)
• Measure the reach and effectiveness of our marketing (where we use advertising or measurement tools)
• Improve security, prevent abuse, and debug issues
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Legal bases for processing

We process personal data only where we have a valid reason under applicable privacy law, including:

• Providing the service — to deliver the features you use
• Legitimate interests — security, fraud prevention, understanding how the service is used, and improving the service (where permitted and balanced against your rights)
• Consent — where required by law (for example, non-essential analytics, advertising, or marketing cookies)
• Legal obligation — when law requires us to retain or disclose data

6. Teachers and student data

Teachers who add students to their roster typically decide what student information to store. For much of that roster and lesson data, the teacher determines how that information is used, and LessonStudio provides the platform to store and process it on their behalf.

Teachers are responsible for having permission under applicable law to hold and share student data with us, including obligations toward minors in their jurisdiction.

7. Sharing and service providers

We share data only as needed to run the service, with providers such as:

• Hosting and infrastructure
• Email delivery (login codes, notifications)
• Error monitoring and security tools
• Analytics providers (such as Google Analytics)
• Meta (Meta Pixel) for measuring Facebook and Instagram advertising
• Other advertising platforms’ measurement tools when we run campaigns on those channels

These providers work under our agreements or their own terms.

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

8. Retention

We keep account and teaching data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward (e.g. to resolve disputes, meet legal requirements, or allow export).

Contact form messages are retained as long as needed to handle your request.

Logs and security records may be kept for a shorter or longer period depending on operational needs.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for sign-in, sessions, security, and basic operation on the marketing website and in the application. Google Analytics helps us understand how both are used. On the marketing website, Meta Pixel measures our Facebook and Instagram campaigns; we use equivalent tools on other advertising platforms when we run ads there.

You can manage non-essential cookies through your browser or our consent settings.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

11. International transfers

If we or our service providers store or process data outside your country, we use appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete data (subject to legal exceptions)
• Restrict or object to certain processing

13. Children

LessonStudio is not directed at children to sign up on their own. Students typically access the service through a teacher’s invitation. Teachers are responsible for compliance when they manage data about minors.

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here and update “Last updated”. Significant changes may be communicated by email or in-app notice.
